EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a technique that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and is a type of therapy used to treat symptoms related to traumatic events. It is rooted in the idea that traumatic memories can cause negative thought patterns and emotional distress. During EMDR therapy, the client is asked to recall a traumatic memory while simultaneously following the therapist's finger, handheld tappers, or a light bar moving back and forth, which allows the brain to process and integrate the memory. This reduces distress related to the traumatic memory and improves the client’s overall well-being.
Turning Point Counseling and Consulting has many therapists who are trained and able to provide quality EMDR therapy.
