Avery Johnson, MSW - Supervisee in Social Work

In life we will all face challenges at some point or another, and Avery likes to meet her clients where they are, to help them grow. If you are experiencing low self-esteem, anxiety, or battling depression, she would like to create a safe space for you to begin your healing journey. Treatment focuses on improving the mental, physical, and emotional self.

Avery has over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, working in settings such as group homes, intensive in-home counseling, nonprofits, geriatrics, inpatient and outpatient settings. She serves populations including adolescents (13+), young and older adults, and the military. She has experience working with diagnoses such as PTSD (trauma), anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. The modalities she utilizes include CBT, DBT, person-centered, sprinkled with mindfulness.

As a supervisee in Clinical Social work, she holds a master’s degree from Norfolk State University (Behold the Green and Gold!) and is currently in supervision to receive clinical licensure. When she is not working with clients, she enjoys reading, traveling, nature, and spending time with friends and family.
