I’ve been where you might be right now…..stuck, wanting to change and not knowing how.
I understand that we have to go through the bad stuff to get to a place of growth. Like you, I have been challenged and unable to determine how to move forward.
Now I’m privileged to be able to guide others to their own transformation.
A therapist for over 25 years, I guide people from their own “stuck” places to a life full of adventure, meaning and satisfying relationships. I worked my way to become a masters level graduate of the Norfolk State University School of Social Work. As a result, I’ve served hundreds of clients from a broad spectrum of socio-economic, cultural, sexual and faith orientations.
Through years of training and experience, I bring a deep understanding of:
- The adult and childhood developmental process,
- The challenges of trauma and addiction recovery
- The complexity of mental health diagnosis and treatment
- And communication, conflict resolution and parenting strategies for families.
My clients and colleagues tell me I bring a genuine concern and empathy into all my encounters. They tell me I offer a safe and nurturing space to grow and experiment with the change process.
My goal is to help clients find both the meaning for their behaviors as well as a clear understanding of what’s holding them back, always encouraging them to find a way to learn in every situation.
I am trained in a variety of short term and long-term treatment modalities. I have specialized training in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). During my 25 years in the mental health field, I have worked extensively with adults and adolescents that are seeking in lasting recovery from trauma, addiction and other life challenges. I am also an experienced administrator, social work supervisor and Juvenile Competency Evaluator.
I hope you will contact me to schedule a consultation or appointment today.
